Renishaw and Young Engineers

Renishaw and Young Engineers have teamed up to offer a fantastic opportunity to gain an insight into engineering as a career.

Engineers are involved in cutting edge technology in amazingly diverse products – everything from jet engines and wind turbines, to mobile phones, game consoles and F1 cars. They have a major role in helping to tackle global challenges including climate change, health and energy security. Today engineers are in great demand in the UK and with a shortage of engineers forecast for many years, there has arguably never been a better time to consider a career in engineering.

The Renishaw Engineering Experience is a fantastic five day package of activities that will give 6 lucky students a unique opportunity to see behind the scenes of successful engineering businesses and to meet engineers that are making a difference to our world. It will take place in June 2014 and as well as the actual cost of the 5 day trip, the selected participants will also receive assistance with their travel to and from the point of departure. The Experience, which is fully escorted, will include visits to well known engineering companies, service providers and even heritage sites. It promises to be an inspiring and potentially life changing experience, but with an element of fun!

Renishaw is one of the most exciting places to work as an engineer, where its employees have the opportunity to carry out interesting and ground-breaking work in an environment that promotes innovation. The company specialises in metrology, the science of measurement, and its products ensure that companies around the world are able to improve the efficiency and quality of their processes, whether manufacturing metal components or carrying out brain surgery! Renishaw’s customers include companies that manufacture aircraft jet engines, high performance motorbikes and F1 cars, but also businesses making teeth and doing research into early detection of cancers.

The Renishaw Engineering Experience is open to all full-time UK students aged 16-18 (A Levels, BTEC, Baccalaureate, Highers etc).

To be considered you need to tell us why you are passionate about a career in engineering, what you have achieved so far and what benefit you would gain from being selected to take part in the experience.

Entry is now open and the closing date for your submission is 31 March 2014.  Download the application form or apply to [email protected]

Selection interviews will take place in April 2014.

Good luck!
