Aline Dickinson

Young Engineers Club Leader at Whitehill JM School in Hitchin, Hertfordshire

“Aline Dickinson has run a Science and Engineering Club at Whitehill School for ten years. She is inspirational and engages the children with fun, challenging projects to fire their imagination and motivation. She works tirelessly to see that the children gain the maximum benefit from projects such as rocket launches, testing hovercrafts at the local swimming pool, flying model planes or conserving the planet with visits to Tesco’s recycling plant or designing wind turbines to generate electricity.

The schools team of engineers have presented their projects at local and national events winning recognition and prizes for creativity and scientific enquiry. Most recently they were nominated for club of the year at the National Finals in Greenwich, the only school in Hertfordshire to be there. The children benefit enormously from Ms Dickinson’s tireless enthusiasm and she would be a worthy winner and an inspiration to other club leaders as she is to our children.” Fran Bradshaw, Headteacher
